Where does my time go?

I was planning on blogging yesterday and putting up my Weekend Snapshot, but I did a whole lot of little things and managed to get next to nothing accomplished. I suppose since I did nothing but watch movies all weekend I will forgo the snapshot and hope that this coming weekend will bring something more interesting to photograph.
I swear I am so ADD. I seem to spend hours upon hours at my computer and still feel like I don’t do anything or at least get anything finished. For instance, last night when I was about to blog about my day I thought about how to get the most out of PayPerPost. I surfed over to Technorati and joined, then proceeded to see how to maximize my rankings there. One of the suggestions made was to make sure that your css & html are optimized. So off I went to try to validate my coding. There’s the difficulty though. My coding would be fine, but when you get into 3rd party widgets and such there’s really no way of altering the code much if at all. One of the errors that appeared on this site was in reference to the YouTube video I embedded in a previous post. Off I went again to see if anyone else has had this same issue and whether or not they were able to fix it. With the help of this site I found exactly what I was looking for and was able to fix the validation error. I was able to completely validate my other site queenb.ca, but gave up for the time being on this one.
If fact in writing this entry I’ve found myself drifting away from what I’m doing. With the outside links I’ve added I remember reading somewhere that ...target="_blank"> is not xhtml standards-compliant and that there was another way to accomplish what I wanted. Sure enough, I had to hunt down my answer. Then in doing so I remembered that I have a barely used Del.icio.us account that I could save that page for later reference. Well since it’s been so long since I’ve been there I am fighting the urge to sort through all my old bookmarks. If you can believe it I actually started this entry at 19:20. Though in my defense I ate dinner and watched The Biggest Loser since then.
In the last couple of days I have managed to install 6 new plugins. I’m sure there won’t be anything noticeable as they’re all backend stuff. But I now have a Maintenance Mode, and Theme Tester plugin as I am toying with getting a new layout up. If you actually read the above then you’ll imagine that it won’t be up anytime soon, but when I get my shit together I certainly would like to see something I created here instead of a canned theme.

Wow you have been busy. Validating is such a pain, it took me ages to get my XHTML and CSS valid.

Validation is a huge pain in the ass, but once you have gotten on top of things, it isn’t too hard to stay within XHTML/HTML/CSS compliance. But like you mentioned, when you start adding in third party codes and widgets, validating them can start to be a royal pain in the you know what. :/

I SO know what you mean about the html validation problem! My own HTML is all valid, but whatever is added through widgits isn’t!! That’s frustrating. I never knew, though, that target=”_blank” isn’t correct!! It comes up as valid, though!

I never knew that target=”_blank” isn’t right either. But, maybe if you keep on getting distracted you should take time to yourself and “organize” your thoughts for like an hour a day. It just seems like you’ve got a lot of things on your mind.

Your internet time sounds just like mine. lol. One thing leads to another then another and another. Before you know it it’s th wee hours of the morning and you should be getting ready for school/work. Yeah, I knw how that goes! I don’t think its ADD thouch. I call it a wide range of interest.

Getting my CSS valid took less than 5 minutes, but my attempt to validate my HMTL was hopeless. I gave it. That will be a huge project for me to take on later on.

The theme tester plugin sounds so useful. I’ll have to look into installing one on my site.

I know exactly what you mean about getting ADD while on the computer. Also, if you don’t mind me asking, what theme tester plugin do you use? I had one that I liked but it randomly stopped working, and I’d like to try something new.

I’m the same way. I go online for hours on end looking for something to do and forget to do something i had told myself I would do, like blog or update my layout. It’s really frustrating how the internet can knock you off course so easily with so many silly distractions.
As for CSS/HTML validation, I completely understand your frustration. My CSS/HTML is beyond validation and I’m just too lazy to go out of my way to fix something to seems to work fine on all sorts of browsers and on different computers.

i have had the same problem with my own layouts.i got so irritated by it i just found a theme to use till i can get it all validated properly.which i still havent done lol!
