Man, I’ve been wanting to get back here to blog since I actually have something to talk about, but I’ve been so damn tired, exhausted really and unable to keep myself awake long enough to sit down and write anything.
Anyway, so Friday night was my friend Heather’s birthday bash at Boston Pizza. We were supposed to meet at 19:00, so when I rolled in at 19:10 I sort of figured that there would be people there already. Nope, I was the first one there sitting at a table for 15! I felt pretty stupid, but luckily Heather and her designated drivers, Jane & Christina arrived about 5 minutes later. She had already started around 17:00 so she was feeling pretty good by this time and grew more and more angry as time went on and no one else arrived. Ashley was the next to arrive around 19:45 to more and more cursing from the birthday girl about how her friends sucked. Heather was sucking back the drinks like no tomorrow and getting louder and funnier with each one. At one point I convinced her to let the bartender create a drink for her since she was starting to run out of menu options. The waitress returned with a lot of whipped cream covered with sprinkles in a martini glass. The drink, she said, was called a “Muff Dive” since the real part of the drink was the shot she had to drink without using her hands located somewhere under all the whipped cream. What a joke watching her psych herself out to do the deed… When she finally did she nearly choked and said the shot tasted gross, kind of like Buckley’s. It was 21:45 by the time Lana, Ashley, and Lauren showed up. I just don’t get people… If you’re supposed to be somewhere at a certain time, how do you show up almost 3 hours late?! Anyway, we all had a blast regardless. I ended up leaving around 23:30, hence missing her expected table dance, but she ended up leaving when the bar closed for the night. More people kept coming in, so at least she wasn’t there by herself.
In other news, I actually had plans this weekend! That doesn’t happen very often, so I definitely want to brag about it! I had been hearing great things about the Americana hotel down in Niagara Falls from a friend of mine. She was saying that for little guys like mine, there is no need to spend the big bucks to go to Great Wolf Lodge. She told me that she got a room for $159, which I felt was too much for us to spend at the moment, but I went cruising Expedia.ca and managed to get our reservation for $119 on the Saturday and $89 on Sunday. At that price, I figured I had to take advantage. We went up on Saturday afternoon and managed to get little D into the waterpark around dinner time which was great in terms of crowd. He was pretty unsure at first and wouldn’t let go of my hand to save his life, but despite being a frozen chattering mess within a half hour, he was having a fantastic time. He only enjoyed the waterpark more each day we went back. On the Sunday we visited the Butterfly Conservatory, which if you haven’t been is absolutely breathtaking! I think there are something like 2000 butterflys flying all around you, it’s just amazing. Little D really enjoyed himself and ran up and down the paths trying to catch them. The funniest thing was coming around a corner and bumping into a co-worker I had had about 3 years ago. What a small world! She was just on her way out and I kept thinking that if we’d been a bit slower and her and her husband had been a bit faster we’d never have met. That kind of stuff just weirds me out sometimes… All in all we had a fantastic weekend, and I truly can’t wait to do it all again soon.

My close circle of friends already knows, but there still lots of people who don’t.
I’m sitting at my desk on Friday (dress-down Friday) when this annoying Ed Assistant comes and hangs over my desk and says ‘can I ask you someth…’. At this point she reads my shirt and looks puzzled. ‘Um, why are you wearing that shirt?’ Being the totally un-sarcastic person that I am replied “uh, false advertising?”, I mean hello?! This obviously puzzles her further and after the smell of smoke from between her ears finally dissipates, she asks ‘is that true?’. Uh duh… I’m sorry, I realize I’m not very understanding, but I just don’t deal well with stupid.

Okay, that title isn’t exactly true. I actually really like my job, more-so now than ever before in fact. After my first week back after Christmas holidays I’m absolutely wiped out though. I meant to blog all week. In fact, if I can find a way to hook up my brain right before I fall asleep I’d have a blog entry every day! I often find myself thinking of all the things I would blog about, and I find myself quite eloquent too at that time of day. I’m just too tired to drag myself out of bed to get it all down. I think it’s kind of like when you dream, as soon as you wake up and open your eyes it all vanishes. I think if I did actually get my butt back out of bed after blogging in my head to get it all down, it would just fade away like a dream.
So this past week, I have been getting home and pretty much crashing on the couch shortly thereafter. Besides being pregnant I’ve been super swamped at work trying to do too much. I’ve been working on our school’s website, I have a payroll report (like 35 pages) due Monday and I had to get our Principal’s retirement flyer done. None of these things are part of my “job description”, but I like being busy, so I tend to take on way more than I should.
The one thing I really wanted to work on this week is yet another remodel of this site. Even though I actually really like the current layout it isn’t something I made and it bugs me. The only problem is, I just can’t get what I want out of my head and everything I’ve tried so far I end up hating before I can go live with it. Little D and hubby went to the mall so I hopefully will use the brief reprieve to my advantage. Hopefully the new site (whenever I manage to get the stupid thing done) will be worth the wait!

WARNING: Sex Toy Review below

So as you may have already read I bought a number of items from EdenFantasys a while back so I thought I would review one of the things I bought. First off, I had never even heard of EdenFantasys before reading Jenn’s post giving away a $50 gift card. So I thought I would mosey on over and see what the site was all about. I found it very well laid out and very easy to navigate. Call me a girly girl but I loved all the splashes of colour. I have been to adult toy stores before and been slightly intimidated, but found this site welcoming and totally non-threatening. The search features are amazing, everything is broken down by material, special features, length, use, etc. It makes it so easy to find anything you might be looking for instead of simply browsing. Since they have so much product I would certainly suggest using the search tool if you have something specific in mind. Besides the toys, they also have sensual items such as massage oils and candles, dvds, books, lubes, party favours and gag gifts, toys cleaners (I chose this one), and storage (I got this one).
So on to my purchase… One of the toys I bought was the Hummingbird Arouser. My order arrived superfast and I had it in my hands 3 days after ordering (that’s really fast when you consider that I live in Canada and everything tends to get held-up at the border). It was packed with no obvious markings as to what might be inside, in fact I wasn’t even sure what the package was until I opened it. There was a lot of bubble packing so nothing was damaged at all. Each toy came in the original box as you might see on the shelf in a store. I was sort of surprised by this, but then that only makes sense for sanitary purposes. As you can see by the photo, the Hummingbird comes in red and is powered by 2 AA batteries in the controller. I chose this toy because it is waterproof and multi-function. I’m all for getting things that do more than just one thing. If it’s not totally obvious the Hummingbird is just that, the beak is a clitoral stimulator, when the wings vibrate along the labia and the tail is coined as being an anal stimulator, then as an added bonus there is an insertable penis on the top. The controls are super simple with up and down arrows to increase or decrease the vibe and little lights letting you see which setting you’re on.
I found this toy to be extremely quiet considering the power it packs. You shouldn’t have any trouble using it and waking small children, or even snoring husbands. When I first used the Hummingbird I was about to become disappointed, I have purchased toys in the past that were less useful than I was hoping, but it only took a little readjusting to sit where it would give the most pleasure. The Hummingbird’s beak does a great job of stimulating the clitoris and the wings were a great bonus I’ve never had with other toys. The tail isn’t long enough to be considered an anal stimulator, more like a perineum stimulator, but that’s good too. The short penis (2½ inches long and 3¼ around) is not powerful enough to get the job done, but then this is an Arouser, so in that respect it’s fantastic! I’m very happy with this purchase, sometimes, you just never know what you’re getting and whether or not it will fit to your body, but the Hummingbird Arouser was definitely worth the money and for less than $30.00 it’s a great addition to your toy collection!

After a sweet 2 week holiday (spent at the exotic…home) I am finally going back to work tomorrow. Feels like I just left, I’m not really sure where the time went. I will say that it was relaxing though.
So I will rewind back to New Year’s Eve when my Dad took us out to dinner. We went to my favourite chinese restaurant Imperial Buffet. I had made the reservation the day before for 5 o’clock and thank goodness I did. You should have seen the mob of people we passed on our way out who were waiting to get seated. We always tend to get to a restaurant as early as we can for little D‘s sake. There is always less of a crowd and we can still get him home in plenty of time to have a decent bedtime. When we got home we opened our Christmas presents – yes we had not opened our gifts from dad or vice versa. Little D had pooped out when opening his gifts on Christmas day so I decided to cut things short and figured we would try again when he was more interested. In fact, he didn’t open his last gift until yesterday afternoon!
Saturday we drove to Paris (no not that Paris) to meet up with my Mum and do a little shopping at Mary Maxim. It’s one of the few great places left to buy good yarn so I go there whenever I get the urge to start a new project (thought I don’t tend to finish as many as I start). My new knitting project is going to be a prayer shawl for my retiring Principal who is moving on to become a pastor. I’m not totally sure it is appropriate as they are usually used for grieving or ill people who need prayers, but I figured he would at least see the thought behind the gift. While I was there I picked up an origami kit I had my eye on, and finally splurged and bought 2 cross stitch kits that I have been looking at for a while.

I have already started on the hands which will be for little D and then I’ll do the feet which will be for baby x.
The biggest news of the holiday is that I managed to get little D potty trained! Okay, not 100%, but pretty close. With the exception of the first night (Monday) he has been sleeping right through the night and waking up in the morning dry, which I think is really incredible. He hasn’t been in diapers since waking up Monday morning and since Tuesday, has only had 5 accidents. Now we’re still having issues pooping on the potty, but peeing seems to be a done deal. I think he daycare teacher is going to be thrilled. I just went out today to get him more underpants so that he will have a supply at daycare instead of diapers. They’re so cute too. I mean they don’t have anyone special on them like spiderman or anything, they’re just so small. I had to get him an XXS, but they’re still a wee bit too big for him. I am prouder than proud can be. I’ve heard the horror stories about how long it can take and all the pull-ups and bed wetting, but I just got him to throw away all his diapers (just figuratively, I’ve still got them bagged up for the next one) and told him that this was it, he’d have to do his best to get to the potty to do his business or he’d have wet underpants. You never cease to amaze me kid, you make me proud!

Okay, it wasn’t that bad, just exhausting. Christmas Eve we went to the Family Service at church. It was really well done and really included the little ones. I think that’ll have to be a tradition we continue from year to year. Christmas morning we dragged little D out of bed around 8:30 jingling bells and telling him that Santa had been there and that he had presents to open. He replied by saying “under my tree?”. Not really grasping the concept of Christmas he quickly became distracted and much to my husband’s dismay I called a halt to the proceedings with unopened gifts still under the tree. I mean there’s hardly any point in rushing the kid through opening his gifts when he’d much rather throw the paper over his head. Besides, we had to be in the car by 10:30 to get over to my Aunt’s house for 1:00 for my family’s gathering. It was really nice getting together as we don’t get much of a chance to see everyone (Aunt, Uncle, 3 cousins, Gran, Mum, Dad, Brother & his wife) and certainly not all at once. We are generally a loud boisterous family and this gathering was no exception. I miss it, and wish we could all get together more often. I made my big announcement (the pregnancy) via little D‘s shirt: “I’m going to be a big brother”. I’m all about the theatrics. We were going out for dinner this year (we used to go out years ago but have stayed home with turkey for the last say 20 years) instead of having my Gran cook for everyone. I liked this idea since my Gran always gets a bit frantic before hand and is constantly checking her watch worried about getting the food ready on time. It’s just not very relaxed, so I think going out was a much better choice. I mean she is 88, she should enjoy Christmas and not be worried about feeding everyone. At dinner everyone was super impressed at how well behaved little D was. I think I sometimes take that for-granted. He just is like that all the time. It really hit home when a kid much older than mine was shrieking at the top of his lungs about something and for a good 5-10 minutes before his parents bothered to do anything!
On to day two of our Christmas traveling. This time we were off to see his family. I sort of dread going up to see them only because it is so opposite of my family. Most of the time with my family you can’t get a word in edgewise and there is certainly never a dull moment. With his family there is only his Mom, sister and niece and certainly they are not even close to rowdy like my family can be. Even just visiting my Mum, we are constantly talking. Being around his family I feel this uncomfortable need to fill the silence, but I’m just not that social, so it’s just uncomfortable. This was no exception, and when you considered that we got there around 1:00 and didn’t go out to eat until 5:30 it made for a long day. When we got to the restaurant for our buffet dinner, we were told that they weren’t running the buffet that night. We were all pretty ticked off since the reservation had been made with that stipulation. We ended up getting 10% off our meals if we stayed and ordered from the menu, so that was at least something. I was starting to think I was on an episode of Hell’s Kitchen seeing as our meals took about 40 minutes to arrive. By the time we finished dinner and made the long drive home it was 9:30. I told hubby that next time we have to insist on an earlier dinner for little D‘s sake. Even though he sleeps all the way home in the car, it’s still a really long day.
Today was a total veg day. I really wanted to take little D to see a movie, but hubby didn’t want to go today “it’ll be too busy, you know how I hate crowds…”. Though I could have taken him myself, I thought it would be a nice family outing, so hopefully we’ll be going tomorrow. Although…part of me is thinking I should be trying to potty train starting tomorrow. Little D is going to be 3 in April, and I think it’s time, despite hubby thinking he’s too young. Anyone have any thought, comments, suggestions on the subject? Possibly like a shmuck I bought one of those potty-training guides off the Internet which make me believe that I can have him totally trained in 3 days or less. Am I kidding myself? I’m actually kind of nervous about it. What if he’s totally defiant about the whole thing? The guide says that once you start you should not stop or it’ll just confuse the kid and make it that much harder when you go to try again later. Isn’t there some potty-training school I could just send him off too, like doggy obedience school or something?

It’s just occurred to me that I’ve been rather out of control when it comes to online shopping lately. It’s not like I’ve won the lottery or anything, I guess it’s just lack of self-control. Usually my frugal self will argue with my self-gratifying self and eventually win. But I suppose my frugal self has either been inundated with hormones, or maybe even gone on holidays. Either way I’ve been getting quite a few packages in the mail lately, and I thought I’d share what I got.
So it all started with the 120 palette that I bought off ebay. Though I like it, I think it might just be a bit too extreme for a subtle makeup gal like me, so I ventured over to Coastal Scentsto get the warm palette and a few inexpensive brushes. Then it was on to Everyday Minerals to finally get the stuff out of my wishlist: a flat top bush, 2 full sized foundations, 1 full sized blush, and a whole bunch of sample sized goodies including eyeshadow and brow colours. Shortly after that I saw a coupon code to get a free travel set of makeup from EyesLipsFace so I thought I would check it out. I ended up getting: an eyelash curler, nail polish, lipstick, lipgloss, eyebrow kit and 3 waterproof eyeliner pens. If you’ve ever checked out their stuff it’s ridiculously inexpensive, but when you slap Canadian shipping on it, it’s not such a great deal, so I probably won’t buy from them again. Besides, my wonderful free travel set had 2 smashed eyeshadows which of course had to be black and silver and covered all the other shadows, blushes and lip glosses to to point where I probably won’t be able to use any of them.
Away from the makeup purchases the last online indulgence came after reading Jenn’s post about EdenFantasys. I couldn’t believe the selection of toys. Have to admit it made me drool a little. I admit, I went a little wild in my order as I got 1, 2, 3 toys, some toy cleaner and a lock box for the toys (oh so important in a house with little eyes).
As for offline purchases, I got an Iomega 1T external drive to use for system backups and hopefully videos that I’ll be making with our new Canon FS200. The camcorder is a gift between hubby and me. It’s something that we both wanted and instead of getting each other little inconsequential things, we opted for the one bigger gift and will leave it at that. Besides, I think since little D is 2½ now, Christmas is mostly about him. Besides, with all the money I’ve unconsciously spent on myself, I definitely don’t need any more stuff.

How does it happen that with the best of intentions to keep up with a blog, you fall all to pieces and can’t seem to find the time?
Well I’m back (yeah I know, again?). I’ve been meaning to get things rolling ever since I found out that I was pregnant. Yup, that’s right, my little guy is finally gonna have a baby sister or brother. I don’t know if it’s hormones or just me being indecisive, but I’ve been working on and off on a layout for like the last 6 weeks. I start something and before I can actually finish it up, I hate it. Then I’m on to a new design, and end up hating that one too. So here I am with a premade theme, which I generally don’t like to use because I’d rather design my own, but at this rate the baby will be 2 before I get anything put together. So expect things to change around here in the next little while as I try to put my personal mark on this theme. I just had to get something up so that I could finally put an entry together.
So of course the biggest news I already mentioned – I’m pregnant. <strike>We</strike> I was trying to get pregnant, even though the timing wasn’t the greatest in terms of cashflow since hubby’s been off work since the beginning of September, but the ticking was getting louder in my head and I always plan for the end result. That just means that I was hoping for a May/Taurus baby, but will be ending up with a June/Gemini instead. Since I work at a high school that timing is fairly important to me. I don’t want to leave in the middle of the year, because that just means that I will be coming back a year later, in the middle of the year. It’s so much easier to just make a clean break of things. So June is actually pretty perfect.
I have been pretty nauseous this time around. No actual throwing up, just the constant feeling that I might. As I have now reached week 13, I think that most of that is behind me. It will be interesting to see how different this pregnancy will be compared to my first. For instance, with my son, he was constantly hiccuping, which I found kind of funny. I didn’t really have any nausea with him, so might this be a girl? Everyone seems to think so, or at least would like it to be. A little girl would be nice, but I’d honestly be happy either way. I don’t expect to find out the sex of the baby this time either. You really get too few really good surprises in your life, why rush this one? Hubby is really hoping for a boy again, which is pretty funny since he really wanted a girl the first time. Now he’s decided that girls are just too hard to raise. Not sure what that thought is based on, but whatever.
