The Biggest Disappointment
What a rip off!! The evilness that is The Biggest Loser just ripped me off for the vote off!
If you haven’t yet seen The Biggest Loser for March 11, 2008, please advert your eyes as spoilers follow.
So to mix things up this week they decided to bring back 2 old players, 1 man and 1 woman. I really hoped that Bernie would be back, but of course Mark beat him out. And only by 2 pounds if you can believe that! Considering how close Mark is to his goal weight he shouldn’t even be in the running to return as far as I’m concerned. For the ladies it was Allie from the original pink team who got to come back. At first I thought that was great considering how much weight she’s lost. Man did she look great! But when she’d rather not even join the black team and the fact that she’d rather hang out with the men (blue team) has got me steamed. Get her outta there! Brittany has always been a favourite. I don’t know, maybe I relate to her, but whatever the reason, I’ve been rooting for her since the beginning. Once again this week she is facing the possibility that her numbers won’t stack up against the guys. Having never seen the previous seasons I wonder if it’s even possible for a woman to win this thing. I mean men and women lose weight differently and certainly women will never lose as quickly. At the weigh-in I was ecstatic to see Dan get close to the yellow line even though Brittany was there with him. This is how I was hoping it might go down. If they both fell beneath the yellow line it would be perfect because then Dan would lose his challenge winnings of 1 extra vote and the teams would be even. That way it at least it would be a tie between them. Unfortunately that’s not how it played out. It ended up being Brittany and Maggie going into the elimination. But before they even got to vote, the show ended. It’s hard enough for me to get to next week when I know who’s been voted off, but to not even get that far?! Even though I really like Maggie, I’m really hoping that Brittany stays in it even if it’s only for one more week. Oh yeah, I almost forgot Jillian’s censored outburst. She was totally sticking up for Brittany and telling everyone to ‘leave the F’ing girl alone’. Too funny. Guess I’ll have to try to make it through till next week. I guess I’m just afraid of missing the next show, like they might air it on a special weird night or something. Hope not.
Lazy, lazy, lazy
I’m such a slack. I have no idea where my weekend went. I guess between watching movies and working on my new layout all the time just got sucked away. I really want to get this new layout finished up, but it seems that I keep changing my mind about how it should look. Maybe by next weekend I’ll have it looking spiffy enough to put up.
I started doing the Weekend Snapshot and was really looking forward to making myself take some photos so that I’d be able to post along with everyone, but I’ll refer back to the first statement of this entry. That’s right, I’m a slack. We were supposed to go to London to my Aunt’s house for my Mum’s “surprise” birthday. The “surprise” part is a joke because my Gran told my Mum to ask us (my brother & I) if we could come down to her party. Seeing as she already knows about it, it’s not exactly a surprise. I talked to her Friday and she said that she had been practicing looking surprised. I was really looking forward to seeing everyone and showing off how big baby D’s getting, but it got postponed due to weather. We got a dumping of like 25-30cm! As I suspected it was sunny on Sunday and melted the snow pretty fast. That figures. So we’ll be heading south next weekend instead. Since I don’t get out and do stuff much, find myself being inflexible when plans change. So with the family doing nothing interesting over the weekend, I once again have no photo to show for it. We may actually make it out of the house today and drag baby D through the snow on his sled, so if we do I’ll be sure to get some photos up. FYI I don’t post baby D photos publicly (or mine either for that matter), so if you’re interested in seeing them let me know here and befriend me in Flickr.
I did manage to get some things straightened out about my maternity leave. So, I’ve been in to work and done the paper work, here’s how it’s going to play out. I am taking an Infant Care leave after my maternity runs out. This will be unpaid, but I don’t have to return to work. I will return to work on June 30th for 2 weeks until our summer starts while hubby takes 2 weeks holidays to stay home with baby D. When I go back to work my unpaid vacation time (20 days) will be processed and paid out to me which will hopefully help get us through the summer since I can’t claim EI. Then I will be back full time for the new school year in mid-August. The other hitch of this scenario is that my Dad (Mr. Financial) thought I was insane to even consider such a stupid idea when we discussed it a couple of weeks ago. To go without money when we’re stretched as it is would be suicide. It’s true, it will be extremely hard on us but I feel that it’s what’s best for baby D. So on Thursday night we all went out for dinner and while I searched for a good way to break the final news to my Dad, he said ’so March Break is coming up, I guess you’ll have to go back to work soon’. “Actually no.” ‘Oh, so you are staying off until August?” ‘Yup, got it all cleared through work.’ And that was the end of it. No arguing, no yelling, no ‘you can’t possibly afford to stay home’. It was sweet. So one less thing for me to worry about. Yay! Now I’ll just have to think of something else…
Where does my time go?
I was planning on blogging yesterday and putting up my Weekend Snapshot, but I did a whole lot of little things and managed to get next to nothing accomplished. I suppose since I did nothing but watch movies all weekend I will forgo the snapshot and hope that this coming weekend will bring something more interesting to photograph.
I swear I am so ADD. I seem to spend hours upon hours at my computer and still feel like I don’t do anything or at least get anything finished. For instance, last night when I was about to blog about my day I thought about how to get the most out of PayPerPost. I surfed over to Technorati and joined, then proceeded to see how to maximize my rankings there. One of the suggestions made was to make sure that your css & html are optimized. So off I went to try to validate my coding. There’s the difficulty though. My coding would be fine, but when you get into 3rd party widgets and such there’s really no way of altering the code much if at all. One of the errors that appeared on this site was in reference to the YouTube video I embedded in a previous post. Off I went again to see if anyone else has had this same issue and whether or not they were able to fix it. With the help of this site I found exactly what I was looking for and was able to fix the validation error. I was able to completely validate my other site queenb.ca, but gave up for the time being on this one.
If fact in writing this entry I’ve found myself drifting away from what I’m doing. With the outside links I’ve added I remember reading somewhere that ...target="_blank"> is not xhtml standards-compliant and that there was another way to accomplish what I wanted. Sure enough, I had to hunt down my answer. Then in doing so I remembered that I have a barely used Del.icio.us account that I could save that page for later reference. Well since it’s been so long since I’ve been there I am fighting the urge to sort through all my old bookmarks. If you can believe it I actually started this entry at 19:20. Though in my defense I ate dinner and watched The Biggest Loser since then.
In the last couple of days I have managed to install 6 new plugins. I’m sure there won’t be anything noticeable as they’re all backend stuff. But I now have a Maintenance Mode, and Theme Tester plugin as I am toying with getting a new layout up. If you actually read the above then you’ll imagine that it won’t be up anytime soon, but when I get my shit together I certainly would like to see something I created here instead of a canned theme.
You have reached the blog of kasper. I live outside of Toronto, Ontario, Canada,
and have been blogging since 1999. I am newly married, though have been with the same guy for nearly 13 years.
We have a son (baby D) born April 13th, 2007 and have all moved into our first home. Though I don't tend
to stick to one thing, I've been known to enjoy the Sims2, knitting, webdesign, reading, music and movies.
