What a glorious day
It is an absolutely beautiful spring (I never thought it would come) day so this will be a relatively short post as I’ll be taking the little man out for a bit of sunshine as soon as he wakes up.
As promised my new layout is FINALLY up. I have slaved over every last little detail and am quite proud of how it turned out. The colours make me happy so hopefully (considering the amount of time I worked on it) it will be up for a while. If you happen to notice anything out of the ordinary or not working properly, please let me know. While I was getting my layout ready I fell back into fanlistings. I used to run 70+ of my own a couple of years ago, and while I don’t expect to run any listings I will be joining a ton I’m sure over the next little while.
I am embarrassed to say that until earlier this week I have relied on my maternity pants immensely. It’s funny but when I go from season to season I can’t for the life of me remember what I used to where last year. It just seems like I have no clothes. I did manage to drag out a pair of pre-pregnancy jeans a while back, but with the exception of sweat pants all the pants I wear are maternity pants. So earlier this week I thought, “this is crazy, my son is nearly a year old (where the hell did the time go?!) and I haven’t gotten my butt out of maternity pants?”. I don’t believe it was ever a necessity to stay in the larger size as much as laziness and fear. But I got up the courage and dug to the bottom of my pants drawer and found my forgotten favourite pants. I was worried about putting them on as they were a bit snug before getting pregnant, but I was delighted to find that they fit very nicely and weren’t too tight at all. This of course gave me great confidence, that coupled with the 2 new shirts my Dad had just bought for me, I decided it was time to do a bit of shopping for my new body.
I really don’t shop very often as I’m usually so disappointed in my body that I couldn’t bare the thought of spending money on it. However I can’t very well continue to wear pants with the big stretchy panel on the front given my son’s age, so I spent a couple of days picking up some great pieces. I spent way more than I wanted to, but I suspect that I was splurging given that the last time I shopped for myself was when I was pregnant. I ended up with 3 pairs of heavenly pants that fit just below my navel and are petite so I didn’t have to worry about having them tailored, 2 tank tops, 2 wrap tops and 2 button-up shirts in springy colours. I am very happy with my purchases and can’t wait to have somewhere to wear them.
I hear babbling coming from the other room, so I’m off to enjoy the sunshine!
Vindicated!
The long episode with AOL and the bloody modem is finally over.
It started back in January when I noticed a withdrawal of $315.00 from my bank account by AOL. I’m probably one of the few people out there that still uses it, but since I’ve been with them since 1997, have a ton of saved emails and hubby doesn’t know how to surf without the AOL shell I’ve remained an AOL customer. When we moved into the house we decided to go with Rogers, but keep AOLMax to retain our email and hubby’s surfing environment. I canceled (or at least downgraded) my AOL back at the end of October before we moved and at that time I was supposedly told that I had to return the modem, though I don’t recall that ever being said. I mean it makes sense and everything, I just don’t remember anyone telling me that. However with being all loony with the move I’m sure I wouldn’t have remembered anyway.
When I called AOL in January and said WTF!? did you take $315.00 out of my account for, I was told that I hadn’t returned the modem in the allotted amount of time and was charged for the cost to replace it. First of all, don’t I get any kind of warning that I was going to be charged? Second, if I was supposed to return it, where was box and shipping info? Third, like that piece of crap modem was worth $315.00! by I digress… Read more »
Almost Tickled Pink
I got a new phone! Isn’t it purdy? I’ve had a Nokia 3220 for the last 2 years and quite frankly I was getting a little sick of it. I was in desperate need of a new gadget in my life. Enter the pink Sony Ericsson W580i. More than just a lust for a new phone, it was sort of a necessity since baby D has decided that my Nokia makes a great teether. Who would’ve known that drool wouldn’t play nice with cellphone batteries? The phone does still work, but the charge doesn’t last for more than a day.
Luckily the battery for the new phone was said to only take 2.5 hours to charge (though I’m pretty sure it didn’t even take that long), because let’s face it who wants to wait to play with toys? Got the old sim card out of my old phone, plugged in the new fresh battery and listened to the chime as the phone powered up. Sweet satisfaction. After navigating through the new menus and getting acquainted with the phone I was disappointed to be missing some of the neat features from the Nokia. I have to decide if I can live without adding photos to the callers or identifying callers by ringtones or setting a default recipient for text messaging. They may be little things, but those little things are niceties that I’ve grown attached to.
In my disappointment I tried to find the cost of a new battery for the Nokia. Of course the phone is so old that Rogers doesn’t even carry them anymore (if they ever did). Then I thought, “oooh wonder if ebay has any”. Sure enough. Would you believe that I could return the $124.99 Sony phone and pay $0.99 for a new battery?! I laughed hysterically when figured that with shipping the whole purchase would cost me less than $5.00! So sure enough I bought the battery. I still have 30 days to decide whether or not to keep the Sony, who knows maybe the text prediction and mp3 player will outweigh the lackings (though at the moment it’s not looking good).

We have a son (baby D) born April 13th, 2007 and have all moved into our first home. Though I don't tend
to stick to one thing, I've been known to enjoy the Sims2, knitting, webdesign, reading, music and movies.
